Frequently asked questions

Can my organisation apply?

Booster Foundation will consider partnering with:

  • Organisations/projects for New Zealanders, by New Zealanders.

  • Primarily non-profits but social enterprises and educational providers could also be considered.

  • Opportunities beyond “the usual suspects” – smaller, less established organisations should make up part of the portfolio.

  • Organisations/projects for whom the Foundation’s funding would be catalytic or have a multiplier effect.

Booster Foundation will not provide funding to:

  • International organisations, even if the organization has activities in Aotearoa/New Zealand

What are Booster Foundation’s areas of focus?

Booster Foundation’s work is guided by a 5 year strategic framework and theory of change.

We aim to:

  • Provide support to and build the capacity of New Zealanders so they can achieve better financial outcomes.

  • Foster understanding, innovation and cooperation to tackle financial inequality.

Our work to build the financial resilience of New Zealanders is guided by two strategic priorities:

  • Building Knowledge and Skills

    • Partnering to provide relevant, practical resources to build financial capacity and resilience.

    • Supporting professional development and growth of financial capability providers.

  • Innovating, Learning and Sharing

    • Supporting partners to develop innovative financial solutions, services & delivery models.

    • Building and sharing evidence of what works.

    • Supporting coordinated awareness raising, advocacy and programming efforts.

Where does Booster Foundation partner?

Booster Foundation only supports organisations headquartered in Aotearoa New Zealand.  Our mission is to serve all New Zealanders, so we are happy to consider impactful partnerships to improve the financial resilience of kiwis in any part of the country.

How can we build a partnership with Booster Foundation?

At the Booster Foundation, we take a collaborative approach to partnerships and grantmaking. We work collaboratively with prospective partners to develop proposals that align with both of our strategic priorities and capabilities. This is an interactive process, building on the strengths of both organizations to shape a well-crafted partnership that will achieve the intended results.

Our partnerships begin with a conversation to get to know each other's work and to get a feel for whether there may be an opportunity to partner.  We’ll be interested to learn about your organisation and the work you’re doing to build the financial resilience of New Zealanders.

What happens once we submit our partnership proposal?

Our Board of Trustees meets four times a year to review the partnership proposals.  If the Board of Trustees believes the proposal aligns with the Foundations strategic objectives and priorities, we will work with your organisation to formalise a partnership agreement.

What does Booster Foundation need to know about our organisation?

To accompany the partnership proposal, we also request you provide information on your organisation.

This includes;

  • Organisational Overview and Achievements
  • Governance and Executive leadership
  • Vision and Strategy
  • Financial Health
  • Human Resources
  • Planning, outcomes and evaluation
  • External Communications Relationships
What makes a strong application?
  • Please be concise so your information can be easily summarised into an assessment for decision making.

  • We are interested in hearing about the difference your project will make to the financial resilience of New Zealanders. Being clear about the outcomes of your project can be really helpful.

  • We won’t assess your application on how well you present the information, so please don’t worry about formatting your answers.

  • Make sure you have all the required documentation.
